Entrepreneurial Excellence Award Winners Recognized at CED Grand Opening Celebration

Research Triangle Park--The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has announced the winners of its Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards. The winners will be recognized at CED's Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the Grand Opening Celebration of the CED Entrepreneurship Center on Wednesday, May 20, 1998 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.

CED's 12th annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards celebrates the spirit of entrepreneurship in the Triangle by recognizing the efforts of members to further the CED mission of stimulating the creation and growth of high impact companies in the greater Research Triangle area.

The 1998 Entrepreneurial Excellence Award winners will recognized in the following categories:
FastTracker of the Year: Delta Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
President's Service Award: Fred D. Hutchison, Hutchison & Mason, PLLC
Community Impact Award: D. Michael Warner, D. Michael Warner Foundation
Spinoff of the Year: Paradigm Genetics, Inc.
Product of the Year: Ganymede Software, Inc., Pegasus
Deal of the Year: Remote Source Lighting International, Inc.
Outstanding Service to Entrepreneurs: Research Triangle Foundation
Entrepreneurial Excellence Award: Chris Evans, Accipiter, Inc.

In addition, the winners of the 1998 BTI / CED Young Entrepreneur Scholarship will be recognized. Historically the Scholarship has provided two $1,000 scholarships to high school juniors or seniors: one for the best student-run business and one for a dream business plan. This year the judges added a third winner due to the high quality of the applications.

Best Student-Run Business: Brian Blalock, Orange High School, Brian Blalock Welding
Dream Business Plan: Ian Rothfuss, W.G. Enloe High School, Century Computers, Inc.
