CED Product of the Year: Pegasus from Ganymede Software
Research Triangle ParkGanymede Software, Inc. is the winner of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development's Product of the Year Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for its product , Pegasus, which was released in January, 1998.
Transforming the entrepreneurial dream into the reality of a tangible product that solves a problem is the first defining benchmark for entrepreneurial success. This award recognizes the best product and product development team in the Triangle.
Ganymede Software develops performance management products for multiprotocol networking environments. Their products are developed as part of their ongoing effort in developing new ways of monitoring and optimizing network performance. The company was founded in April of 1995 to fill a void in the multiprotocol network performance testing and monitoring area. The company has since grown to have 73 full-time employees. Its founders, Tim Huntley, Steve Joyce, Peter Schwaller, and John Q. Walker, are all formerly of IBM.
"Pegasus makes the job of the network manager easier...The reports
it provides will be a key metric for day-to-day network operations. These reports
will be the first thing the manager looks at in the morning and the last thing
he checks before he goes home. Many times this end-to-end response time is all
he needs to know to prevent problems and keep users happy."
John McConnell, president, McConnell Consulting, Inc.
"Ganymede's first product, award winning, Chariot, delivers the best performance
measurement technology to the market place and now their latest addition, Pegasus,
provides the same high quality Ganymede solution for active performance monitoring
and management."
Robbie Hardy, IntraSoft, Inc.
