CED Outstanding Service to Entrepreneurs: Research Triangle Foundation
Research Triangle Park--The Council for Entrepreneurial Development's 1998 Outstanding Service to Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurial Excellence Award has been given to the Research Triangle Foundation.
The Triangle's vision and commitment to supporting entrepreneurship is what has elevated it above other regions. Knowing exactly what is needed to make a difference is very important; doing what it takes to provide our entrepreneurs with the resources they need is what gives the Triangle community its competitive edge. The Research Triangle Foundation was established in 1959 and is a private, not-for-profit organization whose function is to attract new and expanding research and research related activities to the park in order to create jobs and assist in economic development for the region
"There is a great need for incubator and support space for new companies in bioscience industries and Internet application in telecommunications. The Park Research Center fills this need at exactly the right time." - Dr. Charles Hamner, President, North Carolina Biotechnology Center
"The very formation of the Park Research Center demonstrates the importance that the Research Triangle Foundation leadership places on growing successful, innovative entrepreneurial companies and on capitalizing on our investments in technology. The Triangle has long been recognized as the most successful technology business park in the world, fueled by our world class research universities and the international research organizations that have made this their home. Companies like SARCO, Xanthon, IES, Intek and Paradigm Genetics will be the engines behind future growth for the Triangle. By transforming a former government facility into space for young bioscience and information technology companies, anchored by the resources that CED can provide, the Research Triangle articulates its commitment to our next generation of economic growth." -Monica Doss, Executive Director, CED
