CED's InfoTech 2002 Demo Companies: the Prizewinners
October 31, 2002, Research Triangle Park, NC - Entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and other interested parties witnessed the best of North Carolina's multi-billion dollar IT industry yesterday at InfoTech 2002, where 609 participants test-drove some of the industry's newest technologies and heard national experts expound on its future directions. CED presented InfoTech in partnership with The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE) Carolinas and the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
New this year to CED's InfoTech Conference was the Demo Company Awards, a fun side-event that got the whole crowd buzzing about the 19 InfoTech demo companies and their technologies. A team of panelists and participants cast their votes for hottest demo company, and the winners are . . . Durham's SiliconMöbius as the Journalists' Pick, Pinpoint Networks of Cary as the Investors' top choice, and Raleigh's CipherOptics as the CIO selection. Winners were chosen based on a number of criteria, including business viability, "most likely to succeed," "most innovative technology," and which company would have the greatest impact on its industry. Congratulations to the winners, and to all the demo companies on a great conference!
