CED Selects First 10 Companies to Demo at InfoTech 2002
Twenty to 25 North Carolina Entrepreneurs Will Showcase Hot Technology
July 26, 2002, Research Triangle Park, NC - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced the first ten companies chosen to demo their cutting-edge technologies at CED's 12th annual InfoTech 2002 conference in Research Triangle Park, N.C. on October 29-30. Final selection begins next week to choose 10-15 more companies to demo, which will bring the number to 20 to 25 North Carolina companies. In addition, technologies from the local major universities will be demonstrated.
Presented by CED in partnership with The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE) Carolinas and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School, the conference will spotlight some of the most innovative technology developments pioneered by companies in the state.
"The first round of selected companies have technologies that address a rich variety of market opportunities such as security, network management, wireless applications, enterprise applications, imaging," said Dan Allred, CED's vice president of Strategic Programs and InfoTech Selection Committee member. "Every one of these companies has a management team that is executing like mad in a very tough environment - some are very experienced teams and at least one team is straight out of college."
The following 10 companies have been selected to demo at CED's InfoTech 2002:
-
Alphanumeric Systems, Inc., Raleigh, NC
BrontoMail Inc, Durham, NC
CipherOptics, Raleigh, NC

Chaired by Kevin Flynn of Daniels & Daniels and Mike Preston of Southeast Interactive Technologies Fund, the InfoTech 2002 Selection Committee includes seasoned entrepreneurs, investors and service professionals.
"The Demo Room adds an important dimension to the InfoTech Conference and helps distinguish it from other conferences. It is also an opportunity for companies to show off their newest technologies and products to the tech-savvy InfoTech participants," said Kevin Flynn, Selection Committee Co-Chair. "The demo room is always a favorite part of the InfoTech conference."
InfoTech 2002 will provide IT entrepreneurs, industry experts, technology executives, and investors opportunities to explore critical issues affecting the IT industry and to network with key players. Last year close to 900 attended CED's InfoTech 2001.
The conference kicks off at The Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center on October 29, and company demos will take place at The Sheraton throughout the day on October 30.
