Award Winners Take Center Stage at CED's Annual Event

CED Presents 17th Annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards on Aug. 8

August 8, 2003, Research Triangle Park, NC — The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) honored area entrepreneurs and high-growth companies during the organization's 17th annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards & Family Fun Festival on Friday, Aug. 8. An estimated 500 people attended the event, which was held at Raleigh's RBC Center.

  • Product of the Year -- Trimeris, Inc.
  • Technology of the Year -- Ziptronix, Inc.
  • Technology Services Company of the Year -- Clarkston Consulting
  • Community Service Award -- Heather Hesketh, hesketh.com/inc.
  • Technology Horizons Award -- XActional, Inc.
  • Spin-Off of the Year -- Oriel Therapeutics, Inc.
  • Capital Connection Company of the Year -- Oriel Therapeutics, Inc.
  • Chairman's Service Award -- Donovan Moxey, Interactive Multimedia Solutions, Inc.
  • Charles Hamner Leadership Award: Fred Hutchison, Hutchison & Mason (Previously awarded on May 21, 2003)

“This year's award winners epitomize the consistent and exceptionally strong contributions entrepreneurs make throughout the community,” said Monica Doss, CED's president. “CED's Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards showcase significant achievements from companies and individuals. In addition, the awards highlight role models for other aspiring entrepreneurs.”
