Silicon Valley Bank CEO to Keynote CED's First Engage Session

SVB's Ken Wilcox Will Speak at Engage: Finance on Jan. 15

November 6, 2003, Research Triangle Park, NC — The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) announced today that Ken Wilcox, president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bancshares and Silicon Valley Bank, will speak at CED's first Engage session on Jan. 15. The first Engage session will focus on finance, and will be held at Embassy Suites in Cary from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During his luncheon keynote address, Wilcox will explore today's dynamic financial landscape. Wilcox has been with Silicon Valley Bank since 1990 when he co-founded the company's East Coast Technology division. In January 2000, Wilcox was promoted from president and chief operating officer of Silicon Valley Bank to president and CEO. In April 2001, he became president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bancshares, the bank's parent company. Wilcox's keynote address at Engage will mark his first official visit to the RTP.

Starting at 11 a.m. and prior to Wilcox's luncheon keynote address, Engage: Finance will feature concurrent, interactive sessions that delve into funding sources, exit strategies, and the do's and don'ts of developing and maximizing advisory boards. Engage: Finance concludes with a networking reception from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Engage is for the Triangle's entire fast-growing entrepreneurial community - ranging from sci-tech founders, high-growth company execs, innovative service companies, investors, or anyone looking for the next great company opportunity,” said CED President Monica Doss. “The Engage program series integrates global marketplace trends and best business practices through a unique blend of tactical panels, thought-provoking speakers and expansive, high performance networking - all in a few highly compressed hours.”

All Engage programs will each consist of three core components: knowledge (expert-led, interactive sessions conveying insights for business success), networks (high-energy networking environment with trendsetters from all industries and company stages) and trends (keynote who will highlight of “big picture” opportunities and obstacles).

Beyond the Jan. 15 program on finance, other upcoming Engage sessions include Engage: Health Care in March 2004 and Engage: Marketing in May 2004. Additional details are available online at www.cednc.org/engage.
