BCBSNC President, CEO to Keynote CED's Second Engage Program
Bob Greczyn, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina,
Will Speak at CED's Engage: Healthcare Industry on March 31
January 15, 2004, Research Triangle Park, NC - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) announced during its first Engage session today that Bob Greczyn, president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC), will keynote CED's Engage: Healthcare Industry. This upcoming event - the second in CED's Engage series - will be held in partnership with and at Duke University's The Fuqua School of Business from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 31.
During his keynote address, Greczyn will explore big picture trends in healthcare and will highlight challenges and opportunities in the industry. Greczyn joined BCNSNC in 1998 as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was named president in 1999 and six months later took the helm as CEO in April 2000. Under Greczyn's leadership, the company has embraced technology and innovation designed to give the customer better access to vital health information.
“We are extremely pleased to have Bob Greczyn, a healthcare industry authority and CED proponent, as the keynote speaker for the next Engage program,” said CED President Monica Doss. “Bob's extensive public health background affords him a broad view of the healthcare industry ranging from an entrepreneurial perspective to that of the largest health benefits company in North Carolina.”
Starting at 4 p.m. and prior to Greczyn's keynote address, Engage: Healthcare Industry will feature concurrent, interactive sessions that delve into healthcare's impact on the innovation economy. The program will conclude with a networking reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
CED made the announcement about Greczyn during Engage: Finance, which was held this afternoon (Thursday, Jan. 15) at the Embassy Suites in Cary. More than 250 people participated in the first installment of the Engage series. Today's events kicked off with four concurrent panel sessions that highlighted key financial issues in the innovation economy. Ken Wilcox, president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bank, provided keynote remarks at lunch. The event concluded with a networking reception after lunch.
Beyond today's Engage: Finance and Engage: Healthcare Industry on March 31, CED will present Engage: Marketing in May 2004. Additional details are available online at www.cednc.org/engage.
