InfoTech 2004 Demo Participants to Compete
for 2nd Annual People's Choice Awards

Demo Application Deadline June 29

June 24, 2004, Research Triangle Park, NC - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) announced today that InfoTech 2004 conference attendees will vote on “People's Choice Awards” for the event's most promising technology demos. Scheduled for Oct. 8 at the RTP's Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, InfoTech 2004 presents an opportunity to showcase technology to an estimated 700-800 investors, potential strategic partners and IT professionals.

North Carolina-based companies, individual entrepreneurs, University spin-outs, IT corporations and local research institutions can still apply for this opportunity to display their innovative information technology. The demo application deadline is June 29, and applications are available online at www.cednc.org/infotech.

Those that apply and are selected to demo at InfoTech 2004 will be eligible for the People's Choice Awards, which will be voted on by conference attendees at the Oct. 8 event. InfoTech 2004 marks the second year in a row that conference attendees will decide on demo award winners.

Cary-based Research Triangle Software (RTS) took home the People's Choice Award at InfoTech 2003, while Morrisville-based Polyglot Systems received the second most votes. RTS and Polyglot both received prizes as last year's demo award winners, including free marketing consulting services. This year's demo participants will enjoy similar benefits. In addition to the People's Choice Award prizes, each InfoTech 2004 demo participant will also receive added exposure at the event with a customized, complimentary “banner stand” valued at over $1,000.

Beyond the demo exhibits, the conference will also feature speakers and panel discussions on key IT trends and other issues facing the industry, said InfoTech 2004 co-chair Bob Womble.

“With its strong infrastructure and entrepreneurial economy, North Carolina fosters a vibrant information technology community,” said Womble, a partner with Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman, LLP, in Raleigh. “Building on that strength, InfoTech 2004 will provide access and knowledge to the area's expanding IT environment through demo exhibits, panel discussions and other leading speakers.”

CED is presenting the conference with support from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, MCNC, RTI International and TiE-Carolinas. Sponsorship opportunities and registration details are available online at www.cednc.org/infotech.
