Industry Visionary Flip Filipowski to Keynote InfoTech 2004

CED Also Finalizes Demo Participant Lineup for 14th Annual Conference


July 27, 2004, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski, an award-winning entrepreneur and Chairman and CEO of Winston-Salem’s SilkRoad Equity, will deliver the keynote address at InfoTech 2004 on Oct. 8 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in the RTP. In addition, CED has finalized the InfoTech 2004 demo participant lineup with 27 North Carolina-based technologies on display.

Presented by CED in partnership with UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, MCNC, RTI and TiE-Carolinas, the 14th annual InfoTech conference (www.cednc.org/infotech) will highlight North Carolina's multi-billion dollar IT industry and explore the latest industry trends and new business opportunities.

Named one of the 100 most influential individuals in the technology field in 2000 by Upside magazine, Flip Filipowski has founded several successful IT companies. He currently devotes all of his energy to his new enterprise, SilkRoad Equity, a North Carolina-based investment firm focused on new and emerging technologies used for developing collaborative web applications. Prior to founding SilkRoad Equity, Filipowski founded divine, inc., in 1999 and served as its CEO until May 2003. In 1987, Filipowski founded PLATINUM technology, inc., which grew from a startup to the eighth-largest software enterprise in the world, reaching $1 billion in revenue before its sale to Computer Associates International, Inc. in 1999 for nearly $4 billion, the largest acquisition of a software company at the time.
