CED Introduces Entrepreneur '04 Conference
CED Partners with Fuqua to Present Conference on Oct. 30
August 10, 2004, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced its Entrepreneur '04 Conference to highlight area resources and tools for starting a business. Themed “Essential Know-How and Networks,” CED's Entrepreneur '04 will be presented in partnership with and at The Fuqua School at Duke University on Saturday, October 30, 2004, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
University researchers, “garage entrepreneurs,” corporate employees, small business owners, early-stage entrepreneurs, undergraduate and graduate students or anyone else considering a new business venture are encouraged to attend.
“Promoting entrepreneurship is a key element to the growth of North Carolina's economic future,” said conference co-chair Grace W. Ueng, founder and president of RTP-based Savvy Marketing Group LLC. “This conference will provide attendees with a basic understanding of the elements involved in starting a business and helpful insight from proven executives to help maximize their chances for a successful launch. Entrepreneur '04 will also offer a low-risk way to 'kick the tires' on business ideas and find out what available resources are out there.”
CED's Entrepreneur '04 will feature interactive sessions where successful entrepreneurs and business experts will explore new business trends and tools, sales and marketing techniques, and strategies to build entrepreneurial teams.
“We look forward to partnering with a world-renowned business school like Fuqua on Entrepreneur '04,” said CED President Monica Doss. “We are fortunate to have Fuqua and other leading institutions in the area with such a strong focus on entrepreneurship.”
CED has assembled a diverse and seasoned group of entrepreneurs, investors and other service partners to serve on the Entrepreneur '04 steering committee, including the following: Wachovia's Douglass Riddle (who joins Ueng as conference co-chair), Spectrasite's Steve Clark, BioResource International's Giles Shih, Tryon Capital's Robbie Hardy, serial entrepreneur Rich West, Southern Capitol Ventures' Jason Caplain, StrikeIron's Jane Foreman, UNC Kenan-Flagler's Jeff Reid, and Farad Ali from the N.C. Institute of Minority Economic Development.
Additional information on Entrepreneur '04 - including the agenda, speakers and panel session topics - will be announced in the coming weeks. Sponsorship opportunities and registration details are available online at www.cednc.org/entrepreneur.
