CED to Offer A4 'Case Study' at Engage: Finance

Panel Will Provide Insiders' Look at A4 Health Systems' Growth and Financing Strategy

January 12, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that it will feature a 'case study' on Cary-based A4 Health Systems at CED's Engage: Finance program, set for January 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the RTP Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center. The A4 panel, which begins at 12:30 p.m. on January 27, will close out CED's half-day of concurrent panels and interactive discussions on entrepreneurial financing.

During the luncheon panel, two A4 executives will join an investor and service partner in highlighting the company's financing strategy and lessons-learned from its strong growth over the years. Founded in 1970, A4 has been nationally recognized for implementing software and services in more than 1,400 healthcare organizations, including physician groups and small practices, and Emergency Departments and hospitals.

Case study panelists will include:

  • David Bond, President and COO, A4 Health Systems
  • Steve Nelson, Managing Director and Partner, Wakefield Group
  • Cindy Pittman, Vice President, Business Development, A4 Health Systems
  • Chris Lynch (moderator), Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP

“This panel will be an exciting forum for us to discuss firsthand what it takes to develop an organization into one of the nation's fastest growing healthcare companies,” said David Bond, president and COO of A4. “It's a great opportunity to hear what has worked for other entrepreneurs as well as share and exchange ideas.”

Prior to the A4 case study, previously announced keynote speaker Joe Morea of RBC Capital Markets will kick off the day's events at 8:30 a.m. with his featured comments. Following Morea's speech and before the luncheon case study, Engage: Finance will offer concurrent panel sessions on the following topics:

  • Financial Systems - How Far Will QuickBooks Take You?
  • The Ins and Outs of Angel Financing
  • Positioning Your Company for a Successful Exit
  • Corporate Funded R&D - Protecting Your Assets
  • How to Present Your Financials and Yourself as a Start-Up
  • What's Negotiable - Current Term Sheet Trends
  • Strategic Planning - The Buy Side of M&A

The concurrent panels will feature executives from Gentris Corporation, Hutchison & Mason, Research Triangle Ventures, Southern Capitol Ventures, The Aurora Funds, Metabolon, Hatteras BioCapital, Overture Networks, etrials and other companies.
