CED Elects New Board of Directors for 2005-2006

AlphaVax CEO Peter Young is Chair-Elect


June 30, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC –The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has elected its new 2005-2006 board of directors to lead the organization through its next year of operations.

Christy Shaffer, Ph.D., CEO of Durham-based Inspire Pharmaceuticals, will serve as CED’s chair for 2005-2006. In addition, CED has named Peter Young, CEO of RTP-based AlphaVax, Inc., as chair-elect for 2006-2007. Shaffer succeeds Jeff Clark, managing general partner with Durham-based The Aurora Funds, as chair.

“I look forward to serving in this important capacity and working with CED to stimulate an environment for the entrepreneurial community to flourish in North Carolina,” Shaffer said. “I expect this year to be transformational for CED as we continue to establish important new alliances across the state.”

CED’s 2005-2006 executive committee officers include Shaffer (chair), Young (chair-elect), CED’s Monica Doss (president), Grant Thornton’s Mark Larson (treasurer), Ernst & Young’s Michael Constantino (assistant treasurer) and Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman’s Kent Christison (secretary).

Other members of CED’s 2005-2006 executive committee include Peyton Anderson of Affinergy, Jeff Clark of The Aurora Funds, Steve Clark of SpectraSite Communications, Reid Conrad of Commerciality, Tom Finegan of Clarkston Consulting, John Glushik of Intersouth Partners, Robbie Hardy of Silk Road Partners, Deborah J.
