CED Partners with Entrepreneurial Community to Support Heart Walk
Sept. 15 'Social on the Lawn’ at CED to Raise Awareness & Support for Oct. 16 Heart Walk
August 22, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is partnering with the region's entrepreneurial community to support the American Heart Association's 2005 Triangle Metro Heart Walk, which is scheduled for October 16th at 3 p.m. in the RTP.
To raise awareness and support in advance of the Heart Walk, CED has planned a “Social on the Lawn” on September 15th from 2-5 p.m. at CED’s office in the RTP. All are invited to attend this informal gathering, which will feature light refreshments, drinks, kickball, volleyball, music and networking. The cost to attend CED’s Lawn Party is $10, with all proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association.
Christy Shaffer, CEO of Durham-based Inspire Pharmaceuticals and CED’s chair for 2005-2006, said she challenged CED to rally support across the Triangle’s entrepreneurial community.
“Heart disease is one of the top killers of men and women in America. Our community can tackle this problem by putting energy and resources into the Heart Walk,” said Shaffer, who is co-chairing the 2005 Triangle Metro Heart Walk. “I encourage everyone to lend their support and bring awareness to the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.”
CED has recruited companies and individuals to form their own Heart Walk Team under the larger CED umbrella. The following CED member companies and individuals have already agreed to form their own teams: Hutchison + Mason, Icagen, Integrian, Maverick Marketing, Full Scale Solutions, Motricity, Caryle & Conlan, Jason Caplain and CED's employees.
CED encourages others in the community to create additional teams. For additional information on donating to the Heart Walk or creating a team through CED, contact CED's Alison Mackie at (919) 549-7500 x 117 or amackie@cednc.org.
