Broadcasting Veteran Farrell Reynolds to Keynote Opportunity 2005 Conference

Ruckus Network’s SVP Will Speak on Nov. 11 at Wilmington Conference; 30-Year Industry Expert was Previously President of Turner Broadcasting Sales

September 9, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Farrell Reynolds - a sales and marketing executive with over 30 years of experience at Turner Broadcasting, Ruckus Network and other nationally recognized cable and broadcasting companies - will keynote CED’s Opportunity 2005 conference. Scheduled for November 10 and 11 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside in Wilmington, CED’s Opportunity 2005 will feature a two-day angel retreat and entrepreneur summit.

Reynolds is currently Senior Vice President of Sales and Programming for Virginia-based Ruckus Network, a provider of digital entertainment service for universities. Reynolds, who is also a visiting Professor at North Carolina State University, will deliver keynote remarks on the morning of Nov. 11 at Opportunity 2005.

Reynolds has been an innovator in the fields of sales, marketing, operations and training for over three decades, primarily in the broadcast and cable industries. Reynolds has represented hundreds of television stations, creating and then coordinating the marketing and distribution efforts for their original documentary, dramatic, animated and sports programs and series. As vice president and then president of Turner Broadcasting Sales in the 1980s, Reynolds built the most successful advertising sales organization in the country. He helped create the marketing plans for CNN “Headline News,” The Goodwill Games, NBA Basketball, NFL Football, the World Cup Soccer series, and the introduction of TNT (Turner Network Television).

In 1990, Reynolds left Turner to become Division Chairman at the Whittle Corporation. He subsequently founded Conduit Communications, a film and multimedia development, production and distribution company. In 1993, he joined New World as President and sole employee of New World Sales and Marketing, the national sales arm of the New World Communications Group. In January 1996, the sales group was consolidated with the 12 station television group into the New World Broadcast Group. Reynolds was appointed Chairman/CEO of the group. In January 1997, the company was sold to Fox, Inc. for $2.3 billion.

In addition to Reynolds' featured comments, CED’s Opportunity 2005 conference will also offer how-to sessions and one-on-one consulting for entrepreneurs, as well as professional development and expanded deal flow for novice and long-time angel investors.

University researchers, “garage entrepreneurs,” corporate employees, small business owners, early-stage entrepreneurs, undergraduate and graduate students or anyone else considering a new business venture are encouraged to attend the entrepreneur summit at Opportunity 2005. Accredited and potential angel investors are encouraged to attend the angel retreat portion of the conference.
